Jabba's Comments

Ronnie Robinson didn't set the world on fire in his 2 years at Leeds, and when Bobby McDonald was signed to take the left back slot, Robinson was released. At a slightly lower level he prospered, playing nearly 300 league games for 9 different clubs.

Mike Forster says: Known as Rambo during his time at Leeds due to his impressive physic. Unfortunately he prefered to use his physical atributes to impress in the public toilets and not on the football pitch (allegedly!).

David Womack says: I met Ronnie Robinson while he was playing for Rotherham United. I became firm friends with this man and we had many a saturday night out after matches in the watering holes of Doncaster. Always one for the ladies, with his looks we always attracted attention, and many a time got into some kind of situation, which can be laughed at now. I have many fond memories of Ronnie, but sadly due to moving lost touch.... Would be great if i could again have a laugh with him! I always felt anger at the hurtful allegations of him exposing himself, and can only say, that with a tool like that, if i was him, i'd expose myself too! I was never happy woth those stories floating round, and at times had many a beer over what the allegations were doing to him. I glad he has got on with life and proved the man he is.... ! further, if ronnie can be given my e mail address to contact me, i would be grateful

Alan Tonge says: Ronnie was one of the funniest lads i have ever met. He always had the lads falling about with his impressions and wisecracks. One story he told me was a cracker. He was in a sauna at one of his clubs, when an African player the club had signed came in and sat down. Ronnie was roasting at this time and sweating cobbs! The African lad said to Ronnie, "this is not hot, this is average heat". Ronnie came out, and while the African lad was still in, threw a bucket of water of the hot coals and shut the door tight. He said the African lad slid down the walls, cause it was that hot. The punchline is the African lad went straight to see the gaffer and said "Ronnie Robinson just tried to kill me!!!!!

Have your say

Did you see Ronnie Robinson play? Did you meet him in a pub, go to school with him, decorate his house or buy a motor from him? If you've got any comments or stories about Ronnie Robinson on or off the pitch, just fill in the form below and (provided they're not blatantly libellous) I'll add them to this page.
